Utterings on Caraval

Friday, February 7, 2020

Drawn in by gleaming pages
where air and color come alive,
tickling my ears and seeping into my palms.
As if dipping my toes into a river of honey.
Its golden glory rises through my being.
Seasons change with each step.
I now extend my tongue,
tasting drops of sugar snow
as they sprinkle down from their white haven.

Invited into a magnificent hall,
clothed in delicate garments
accented by a streamlet of crystals.
Floating through the ballroom,
I lean into whispers
drinking in the tale of others.
The words, a whimsical lullaby
that put my yearning for enchantment to sleep.

This poem is based on the Caraval series by Stephanie Garber. How lovely it was to escape into the magical world she created.

Garber commented on this piece via Instagram, saying "This is beautiful ❤️❤️❤️"
