River Dam

Thursday, April 1, 2021

She woke up in the river
and they told her that’s where her bed was.
Pits of haunted waters.
She’d drowned a thousand lifetimes over.
Jagged rocks peaked through
the undulate covers
showing their sharp teeth, hungry for blood.
Sirens screeched.
The bellow of the midnight horizon
shares her ache.
Together, they wash away.
